Why hello there everybody! I hope your day is going a whole lot better then mine. Now I havent mentioned it on here yet but I have just had my wisdom teeth removed surgically. Yesterday (October 11th) I went in for surgery at 8:30 am but had to wait a little bit. I went in for surgery at around 9:15. If you dont know much about what can happen with wisdom teeth here is a basic overview of what was wrong with mine.
I had all four of my Wisdom teeth in my mouth, which is what most people have. The Bottom left tooth was Impacted which means leaning in towards the tooth next to it stopping it from coming through. I also had quite bad roots on my bottom teeth which were angular resulting in not only the teeth having to be broken before they could be removed but a section of my right jaw bone also had to be removed. With any Wisdom teeth surgery there is a risk that the sensation in your gums, lips or tongue can be lost or you can feel tingling or numbness for a substantial period of time. Lucky for me although this was a strong possibility that was not the case YAY.
Day 1:
Arrived at the hospital with my lovely mother who has been looking after me. Got my bed and little area and had to put on one of those rather unattractive hospital gowns. I wasn't very nervous leading up to the day because i had really prepared myself and new what to expect. All of the staff were really lovely and did a great job of looking after me. I went into the operating room an was very surprised at the amount of people in there, but at least i knew there were plenty of hands to help. This was the first time I had Anesthetic and that was the most frightening bit but it all went fine. To be honest I don't even really remember anything after they put the mask on me. I woke up in the recovery room about two hours later which is quite a long time given it was a wisdom tooth operation and I knew at that point it wasn't the simplest operation. I was moved to the day room where I had started off and had a small glass of water but I wasn't really up for eating at this stage. I was very numb because they used a whole lot of local Anesthetic as well which as good. after i left the hospital around 1pm the Anesthetic wore off and I'm not going to lie it hurt a lot. I started my pain killers and antibiotics and the pain went down substantially. I got home and was really hungry because it was around 2pm and I hadn't eaten since the day before. I had two large glasses of Sustenagen which is a supplement drink because i was recommended having it and basically slept because i felt awful I kept ice packs on my face for the whole day because i wanted to limit swelling.
Day 2:
Ok so this is where things get bad. I slept around 13 hours that night which I was really happy with but i did wake up a few time. The pain was getting worse but the painkillers were helping. Today was Friday so I was by myself, that's what happens when your parents work hey. When I got out of bed it took me several hours to get comfortably some of this was the pain, so was the horrible taste in my mouth, but mostly because i felt very ill. I had 3 naps that day and ate a few things, but i really didn't have an appetite. 3 times i felt as if i was going to be ill but nothing happened so i had just put it down to the anesthetic. That evening i felt very ill and as if i needed to eat something more substantial then yogurt and jelly so I had some mince and pasta sauce which was very good. I still felt very ill and went to sleep.
Now that i have talked your head off i will let you go for today. Keep your eyes out for days 3 & 4 tomorrow.
I'm off to sleep because, well I'm still in pain and want to lay down. Have a wonderful whatever time of day it is.
